Our Simple Home: Our Office/Guest Bedroom

The other two bedrooms in our home, along with an extra bathroom, are located on the opposite end of the mobile home from the Master Bedroom. We jokingly refer to it as the Bachelor's Wing. The Bachelor's Wing is compromised of a small hall with 3 rooms leading off of it; the office/guest room, guest bath, and DD's bedroom.

When we were looking to buy a bigger mobile home, we knew we wanted 3 bedrooms. However to pass inspection for our septic tank, we had to remain one of the bedrooms as an office and remove a closet. (I know that makes no sense but we are dealing with a government agency.

Our office is located on the southeast corner of our home. It is flooded with light for most of the day and is the warmest room in the house. It also doubles as DH's bedroom or a guest bedroom if we need it. (DH has a snoring problem. So in order for both of us to sleep at night, we found that is was better for him to sleep on the opposite side of our home from me.)

When you walk in the door, the office desk is in front of you. DH saw the plans for the desk online and built it. It has a lot of storage room behind the computer screen and underneath. It has a nice drawer underneath the computer area and a set of drawers on the right side, one of which a place for hanging folders. He designed the corner shelf and decided to add cork boards to round out the look of the desk area.

The bed and nightstand is on the right when you enter the room. The nightstand is DH's from his childhood bedroom. The bed is sitting right beside the window. The quilt on the bed was made by my mother and I, when she  was trying to teach me to sew. DH's mother recently refurbished the quilt with a new backing and repaired a few squares. At the foot of the bed hanging on the wall is DH's tv box. He made a wood box to frame the tv and to provide shelving to set some pictures.

The office/guest bedroom is simple just like the rest of our home. However, it makes a nice cozy spot to work on the computer on cold winter days and a nice place for DH to lay his head down at night.

Living a simple life and enjoying every minute of it!
