Our Simple Home: DD's Bedroom

Our daughter's bedroom is the smallest bedroom in our home, but we have managed to pack a lot into it and still look uncluttered. We knew when we moved in that DD would need somewhere to house her every growing book collection. We decided to put in bookshelves along the wall with the window with a window seat. I designed and my daddy graciously built it.

We had a desk to move into her new room. It was made my daddy for her 9th birthday. It fit perfectly into her new room. The cork board and flower spray were from her old bedroom. They rounded out her desk area. Also sitting beside her desk is her telescope that we use for star dazing. One year when the orbit of Saturn was closet to the earth we were able to see the rings of Saturn with the telescope.

We needed a bed to put in her room because her old bed in our old home was a built in bunk bed which obviously we couldn't move. My DH's father came to the rescue by buying her a beautiful white twin size sleigh bed. To solve the nightstand problem, we stacked a lot of DD's bigger books on top of each other and voila ~ instant nightstand. We took her America Doll wardrobe (built by my daddy) and put it on the other side of her bed for another nightstand.

At the end of her bed is a cedar hope chest built by ~ you guessed it ~ my daddy as a Christmas present one year. It is stuffed full of sweet memories and dreams for the future. It is something she will always treasure.

Living life simply in our little home and storing away every memory of it!
